The best form of marketing for a photography business is word-of-mouth advertising. In my case, I'm looking for high school students, parents or grandparents who are going to want high quality Senior pictures taken next summer. I love doing these sessions because I get to meet some incredible people, and we have a lot of fun doing the sessions.
But finding and engaging with the right clients hasn't been easy, especially since I don't have any children or grandchildren in high school. Last year I helped with traffic control for a cheer competition in my area. To my surprise, there wasn't a single photographer at the event! Imagine 300+ cheerleaders in the competition without anyone to take professional pictures of the winning teams! I'm not really a sports photographer, but at this year's competition, I'm taking pictures!
Examples of my work? Well, I didn't have any cheer photos to show at the competition and I didn't personally know any cheerleaders, so I asked a neighbor who has a high school student if she knew any. She did, and last Saturday morning I had the privilege of photographing Kenzie. Kenzie and her mother were very easy to work with and the session went really well. The early morning light was perfect, and really highlighted Kenzie's beautiful facial features and hair. I loved our session, and now portraits of cheerleaders are going to be featured in my gallery.
If you have a student athlete who wants high quality photos in uniform, please reach out through our website. I'd love to take them!
